Not those Free Days…

While in the middle of writing a novel, do you ever just give yourself a free day? I try not to, but sometimes it feels good to get away from the book and read someone else's book or maybe watch a movie.

And then there is the guilt.

No guilt ... we need to get a free days so the brain does not turn to mush.

If you really feel guilty, you could try doing house cleaning or some other really necessary stuff during the free from writing days... but then that would defeat the purpose, no?

I've spent most of the last week cleaning out the basement so it will be done before spring planting begins and feeling guilty the whole time because no writing is getting done.  Does that count?

I know it's crazy.
Mayve it's just the way we're wired.
When my kids were young, when I was working (at home) I felt guilty I was neglecting my kids.
Then when I was taking care of the kids I felt guilty I was neglecting my work ...
Now the kids have moved out and I have found other stuff to feel guilty about.
Can I get restarted and rewired?
