I am in need of testimonials for this thread. My original testimonial thread was lost somehow. I will edit one short story manuscript or one chapter at no charge, with no obligation on either end. If you would like to submit a short story or a chapter for consideration, please email it as a Word document. My schedule is filling up, so I will edit one ms per person.

Please visit my website for more information. Below is a copy of my KBoards Yellow Pages ad.

Sensible prices, Janet!

At the moment I have beta-readers with editing experience reading the pre-publication versions of my books, but if I need to hire an editor, you'll be on my list.

Thanks. After that glowing review you got from Hannah Thompson, I would be honored to edit your work.
Thanks for the heads up that our ads now need moderated thread back-up, Janet!

I'd rather have you enjoy my books for recreational reading first. Hunting for typos spoils the experience... ;D
Thanks for the notice! What does that mean? Moderator approved? I'm ready to explode into interrobangs. What's wrong with the thread we have?

Was there an explanation that this was happening and I missed it (which is certainly--nay,highly--probable), or was the Yellow Pages thread just deleted and everyone was left to figure it out for ourselves?
Cheryl, I don't think there was a notice. Yes, we were left to figure it out.  :p  Perhaps there are more hoops to jump through; we'll have to share that information when it becomes available.

I was wondering why my webpage visits had dropped. Luckily, I'm booked through April.  :)
And I see this never got the official moderator blessing. :D Here 'tis. Just trying to keep y'all on your duct-taped-slipper-clad toes.

Welcome to KBoards! [br][br]You're welcome to promote your business and website here in the Writers' Café, but we ask that the same basic rules be followed as we have for authors in the Book Bazaar: you may have one thread about your service and must post to it rather than start a new thread each time. New threads about the service will be removed. Please bookmark this thread so that you can find it again to post to. And, you may not make back-to-back posts to the thread within seven days. If someone responds (such as this post), you may reply but otherwise must wait seven days, thanks![br][br]Also, active members (10 or more posts on our forum, active in the last 60 days) may have a listing in the Yellow Pages for Authors. My original thread contained numerous testimonials but was not tagged as my official thread by the mods. I would like to add some testimonials to this thread. Please see the first post of this thread for an editing offer.
Looking for some new testimonials for my thread! Send a short story or a chapter!
I just wanted to chime in here. I sent an email to Janet for her free editing special- it was two short stories that I wrote as fanfics that I will be giving away free to my mailing list subscribers. In less than two days the edited copies came back to me- that was super quick!

Janet is a consummate professional. She is fast and efficient and I would heartily recommend her! Thanks, Janet!  ;D
Thanks for the kind words. It was a pleasure to work on your ms.
I just reviewed my first editing sample from Janet, and I'm going to nickname her "eagle eyes" I think!

I was impressed by her knowledge of grammar and attention to detail. She had many good suggestions for a short story of mine, including word choices and readability. In addition, she found several "doh's!" (typos) that were missed. Her turnaround on the manuscript was fast, even over this past long weekend.

Thanks, Janet, and I will consider hiring you next time.

I recommend Janet as well.  :)

She edited my 4,000 word short story and found things I had missed, despite several passes through it of my own. I was particularly pleased that she managed the difficult balance of professional and friendly in all interactions, and her edits arrived on the scheduled delivery date. I've been in work settings where the editors were far less friendly and timely, so that really matters. Janet also deserves bonus points for making edits I agreed with, mostly. I can be grammatically picky.

If she weren't booked for April, I'd consider her for the novel I want to release May 5.

Thanks again, Janet!

Sorry about that, Janet! I must have missed the original thread--I usually check. :(. I can merge this with your original thread if you want (assuming I can do a better job of finding it!)

Betsy
Thank you for the testimonial, Kdiem. It was a pleasure to edit your sample.

Betsy, if you can find the original thread without too much trouble, you can merge them. If not, it's okay with me to leave this one as my official thread. Thank you for your kind offer.
Hey JM bookmarking this thread for future reference. Your prices appear very reasonable.

Best of luck.
Howdy Janet - I'm going to need a copy edit in a couple of months. How do you work with fiction that includes colloquial narration and dialogue e.g. intentional misspellings, dialect and bad grammar?
