Molecular biologist Dr. Carl Peters is under pressure on two fronts: his research grants are disappearing and his marriage is falling apart. But when medical researchers discover that genetically modified animal feed has tainted the food chain, he finally gets the funding he always dreamed of.

Dr. Peters discovers the reason behind the cancer link with GM food, but it's so crazy, he barely believes it himself.

Transfection is a 5,500 word, 23-page technothriller, starring a molecular biologist who makes a discovery that shocks the world, only to find his life under threat. His story takes in militant vegans, corruption, homelessness, university politics, radiation, the celebrity-obsessed media, and a shadowy conspiracy.

Transfection is a brand-new story, exclusively available as an e-book. If you like the stories of Ray Bradbury or Philip K. Dick, you should enjoy this.

Praise for Transfection:

"Very strong images...a haunting quality...I totally did not expect that ending. I really didn't see it coming...I recommend this to people who do enjoy well written sci-fi." -- LE Olteano, Butterfly Books

"Well written...a polished product." -- TC, Booked Up Reviews

"I laughed out loud at some of the antics as I was reading. Transfection is well worth the $0.99 price-tag...yet another well written and, dare I say again, thought provoking, tale from David Gaughran." -- Heather Faville, Doubleshot Reviews

You can buy it here on Amazon, for $0.99: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051ZG7AG/

Welcome to KindleBoards, David, and congratulations on your book!

(If you've gotten this welcome before, it's just as a matter of housekeeping. We like to put a copy of the "welcome letter" in each book thread. It doesn't mean you've done anything wrong, it just helps us know that you know the rules.)

A brief recap of our rules follows:

--We invite you to use your book cover as your avatar and have links to your book and website in your signature. Instructions are posted here

--Please bookmark this thread (using your browser's bookmark/favorite function) so you can update it as we ask that authors have only one thread per book and add to it when there is more information. You may start a separate thread for each book (or you may have one thread per series of books, or one thread for all of your books, it's your choice).

--While you may respond to member posts to your thread at any time, you may only bump your thread (back-to-back posts by you) once every seven days. Once you've responded to a member, that resets the clock to zero and you must wait seven days to post, unless another member posts before then.

--We ask that Amazon reviews not be repeated here as they are easy to find at your book link. Also, full reviews from other sites should not be posted here, but you may post a short blurb and a link to the full review instead.

--Although self-promotion is limited to the Book Bazaar, our most successful authors have found the best way to promote their books is to be as active throughout KindleBoards as time allows. This is your target audience--book lovers with Kindles! Please note that putting link information in the body of your posts constitutes self promotion; please leave your links for your profile signature that will automatically appear on each post. For information on more ways to promote here on KindleBoards, be sure to check out this thread:
Authors: KindleBoards Tips & FAQ.

All this, and more, is included in our Forum Decorum. Be sure to check it from time to time for the current guidelines and rules.

Oh, and one more thing: be sure to check out the index threads at the top of the Book Bazaar. . . .there are details there about how you can be listed so that our readers can find you.

Thanks for being part of KindleBoards! Feel free to send us a PM if you have any questions.

My other story If You Go Into The Woods has been picking up some excellent reviews. Transfection has been collecting four star reviews on Amazon and Goodreads at a decent pace since its release just over a week ago, and some strong early sales indicate it will do as well as my first release. Book blog reviews are coming up, but here's some praise for my first release:

Review #1

The good people at SIFT Book Reviews have just given If You Go Into The Woods four stars! The reviewer said, "this is the most professional design - both inside and out - that I have seen since I started reviewing at Sift."

She went on to say that, "the writing in this story is top-notch. Aside from being free of typos and grammatical mistakes, the writer has a strong, clean voice. He's able to sustain an air of mystery and suspense without it feeling cheap."

Review #2

If You Go Into The Woods also received a wonderful review from Jenny Mounfield (author of The Ice-cream Man) over at The Compulsive Reader. She really said both stories had "shades of H.P. Lovecraft".

She rounded off her piece saying "If You Go Into the Woods is probably not best suited to readers who prefer their stories neatly boxed with all the answers lined up. But for those readers who, like me, love punchy, entertaining reads with a bit of mental gymnastics thrown in, you can't go wrong with this one."
