The Dreaming Tree (The Delta Devlin Novels), by Matthew Mather. (Still .75?)

After a near-fatal car crash, Royce Vandeweghe wakes up to find he's one of the first patients to undergo a radical new medical procedure: a full-body transplant. Convalescing and suffering from waking nightmares, he answers the door at his Long Island home and meets Delta Devlin, a New York detective. She sees things nobody else can, visions created by a rare mutation in her eyes.

Roy becomes Devlin's prime suspect in a string of grisly murders. The mysterious Dr. Danesti, who performed the surgery, together with Roy's estranged wife Penny, do their best to shield him--but it becomes obvious it's not for his sake. Desperate for answers, Roy tracks down the grieving widow of the man whose body he now inhabits.

Out of time, and perhaps his mind, Roy leads Devlin on a spiraling chase through a global underworld of black-market body parts and billionaires where nothing can stand in the way of living forever--not even death itself.

"Incredible detective Delta Devlin is a franchise character worth losing your head over." -- Scott Sigler, New York Times bestselling author

"A well put together story, and unlike most Sci-fi series writers, the author finished a completed book before starting a book two. Sorry, this is one of my pet peeves. I hope the author keeps up writing each book complete before starting on another novel." -- Amazon Reviewer

Reagan's Ashes, by Jim Heskett. (Still ?)

True vampires are not what we've imagined. Not even close. Small and soft, they seem harmless...right up until they take your body for their own. Living through the ages, they change bodies and faces like chameleons, watching our history unfold and keeping their secrets close. That's what they're supposed to do anyway. The Guardians-an ancient order of vampire law enforcement-must sometimes step in and make sure the hidden remains in the dark.

When a legendary vampire wakes to a world she can't understand and immediately begins creating havoc, the Guardians intercede. Thousands of years of secrecy are at stake. Girard is tasked with finding the ancient, Thalia. He must either help her to adjust to a new world or eliminate her. As usual, nothing is simple when vampires are involved and this is no exception. This time, vampire secrecy isn't the only thing at risk. Humanity itself teeters on the brink of disaster and the only shred of hope lies with the Guardians.

"I love the take on vampires in this book. Normally you would have a conflicted person at the center with some sort of a restriction on them in regards to daylight. I love Ann Christy's take on vampires much more. She takes a legend, such as vampires, and injects a believable scenario into the legend. In this case, vampires are an evolutionary creature that can occupy another species such as humans. While not exactly immortal, they are very long lived, some thousands of years old. The characters are well thought out and very 3-D. I love the rich background, such as a law enforcement society to protect and police the species and keep them off the radar. She does research into what the vampires would have called their "police" branch in ancient Greece and how they evolved to survive. Believable scenarios and complex characters are the trademark of this author and I love reading her books that have a different take on subjects like zombies, vampires, sentient robots and post apocalyptic U.S.. Whatever subject she writes about, you can be sure that it will be well thought out page turner. I can't wait for the next installment in this series." -- Amazon Reviewer
