Hours away from ordering a Kindle.  People in the forums have talked about "hacking" their Kindle's?  What exactly does that mean??

It means that through 3rd party files that we change default items on the Kindle, such as the fonts and the screensavers.

Have you ordered your Kindle? If so, congratulations!

Nothing so far. Both are easy to remove and shouldn't be a problem.
Unless I've missed something, while neither have been shown to be an issue when installed according to the directions, Amazon has only commented on one (changing the screensavers) as not voiding the warranty. Information on that can be found in the Tips & Tricks forum sticky for Amazon Customer Service updates.

At this time, it's safest to presume that the font hack CAN void your warranty until we hear otherwise from Amazon. This isn't stopping many of us, but it's something to be aware of. :)

And one other thing...  You have to remove the "Hacks" before you can do a Kindle update.
