Most of the article seemed old news re: the e-pubbing business, but I tripped over the last sentence:

Bloomsbury Reader will publish books currently unavailable in print where all English-language rights have already reverted to the author or the author's estate and where there is no edition currently in print.

Eh? *scratches head* I'd really like more information on how they plan to do this....

They will probably approach the people who have the rights and try to get them to sign them over under a new ePublishing contract. Then the publisher will OCR the text, edit for OCR errors, make a cover, format for Kindle, and collect royalties forever. The most interesting part will be the split of revenue between the publisher and rights holder.

Some rights holders will sign. Others will pay someone else a lump sum and collect all the royalties themselves. Others will do nothing.

Bloomsbury says ebook technology is "changing the face of the publishing industry."

Skynews are behind the times, they must be scraping the barrel for news. I think my article on the 27th of May is much better apart from I don't have a pic. I also discuss J K Rowlings digital rights saga for Harry Potter. I also think they are misquoting from the financial report I read with regards to them publishing back catalogue where 'rights have reverted to the author.' That's not the way I read it.

Anyone think she will write another HP book? Those last few pages sure left the door open.
Does she need to write another one any time soon?
