No, you can continue with the one your doing, but after that they ban you for a year.
Just to clarify this- you can upload in the 3-10 day window, but you will still lose your preorder status for a year. I asked amazon about this because I found a typo and wanted to correct it, but they said to wait till release day and I could upload then (but everyone that previously bought the book will have the typo). I decided that it was small enough that I waited to upload.Sophrosyne said:If you're 10 days out, you can upload the file you're working on and just mark it final. You can still upload a new file after the 10 day mark. However, 3 days out, you are not to upload anything. So, if you're looking at missing it by hours or a day, I would upload what you have, and then do another upload a day or two later. If you're already in that 3 day window though, you're screwed.
If you miss your pre-order deadlines, not only are you banned for a year, but everyone who bought that book is contacted, told that you missed your deadline, and all your pre-orders that were clicked in on that book are cancelled.
If you know for sure that there's no way you're making your deadline, you can write KDP and ask if it will affect your other books. My gut feeling is that it won't affect open pre-orders, just future ones, but I don't know for sure.
I don't believe there is any restriction in the day 10 to day 3 window.Sophrosyne said:That's new then. When I did my pre-order, I asked KDP if I could upload a new draft in the 10-3 day window, since I had fixed a small formatting problem, and they said it was fine, as long as it didn't cross into the 3-day period. Maybe too many people took advantage of that 7-day leeway.
