  • Beta Plus - Add on for another $0.001 per word. For those who would like a more in depth discussion of my comments with me, to troubleshoot and think of ideas on how to change any problem areas. The discussion will be via email only.
  • For detailed information, please visit the Haunted Unicorn Publishing - Beta Reading page.

Developmental Editing

  • Specialties are fantasy and horror, but I can developmental edit almost any other genre. Sorry, no erotica please, though.
  • $0.006 per word. So a 90,000-word book would cost $540. I will do a developmental edit for short stories, but the minimum charge is $30.
  • A free sample edit is available! The first 1500 words of your book (one sample edit per person). Interested? Fill out the Sample Edit Request Form.
  • For detailed information, please visit the Haunted Unicorn Publishing - Editing page.

About Me

  • I have an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University. While in the program I read, studied, and critiqued a range of genres.
  • I have been writing and critiquing for over two decades. In any critiques I've done, I focus more on the story and story elements rather than grammar, spelling, and sentence structure. I've done a handful of beta reads for some of my fellow WPF alums as well.
  • I also did some developmental editing for Dingbat Publishing in the past.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'm shy (aren't so many of us?) but friendly! And if you think anyone might be interested in the services I offer, please point them in my direction. I know there are many editors out there, but I'm hoping I can eventually stand out as I build a client list.

Happy writing, all. And read on! ;)

OK - major redo of the first post!

I'm now offering Developmental Editing and Beta Reading, two services that are right up my alley. I love to help people polish their stories!

Feel free to ask any questions, and if you're in the market for Developmental Editing, don't hesitate to request a sample edit (details in the first post and on the Haunted Unicorn Publishing website).

Still able to do sample edits and still scheduling projects. Feel free to email via the website or a PM here if you have any questions (especially with scheduling) before filling out a form.  ;)

And I'll be adding a Testimonials section to the website in the next week or two.  :D

The testimonials page is live on the website!

Also scheduling beta reads and developmental edits from September 5 forward, as I'm currently working on a beta read right now.

Still able to squeeze sample edits in as requested (just finished one up yesterday).

Guess I should get back to revising my own story.  ;)

Have to give a thumbs up to Haunted Unicorn for a fabulous beta read!
She has a knack for pinpointing the weakness of a scene without making the author feel foolish.
Prompt, professional, and very easy to work with.

I'm a little late with this review, but I just wanted to say that Lori did a great job on my beta read. Like Evelyn mentioned, she was able to provide useful critiques that were considerate to the author. She wasn't necessarily my target audience, but she powered through it and ultimately helped me out quite a bit.

Thanks again!

Haven't updated in a bit. Sickness kind of took me out of commission for about a month.

However, in that month, I ended up procuring a Macbook, as well as Vellum! So, all of my Ebook Formatting is currently being restructured to use Vellum. I'll update all the information, including prices, by the end of January.

And yes, I'm still doing Sample Edits - I just finished one up today!

Happy writing, and read on.  ;D

I have finally updated my Ebook Formatting information. I'm now using Vellum to do the formatting, and there are 3 different style options you can choose from. Please pop over to the Formatting page on my website if you want further details!

I'm also scheduling from March forward. :D
