Thanks folks. I'm sure I'll enjoy the Kindle and the boards here. My issue is that while I have in the past been a fairly avid reader, over the years I have tapered off a bit and rarely "read" now. I have and audible subscription due to my hour long commute (one way) to work. I love being able to listen to the books being read but I do miss picking up a book like I have in the past.
That said, I'm going to start off slow. I'll test out the text-to-speech on the K2 and see if that helps segue me into actually reading a bit more. The nicest thing I can think of for the Kindle is that I can pick it up and put it down easily. It's got to be easier than lugging around that full hardback of the Lord of the Rings books and such that I've read and re-read in the past.
I also look forward to experiementing with the device. I'm a digital artist/designer for a casino game company so I spend quite some time making art for devices I am hoping to have fun seeing what I can get to work on the Kindle...both art related as well as documents.
