Hi folks,
I'm William Hertling. I'm a huge kindle fan (I just gave my kindle touch to my wife, and I'm reading on an iPad mini now.)
I've been reading for about thirty-seven years and writing for about three. (I've published two technothrillers, and two non-fiction books.) I'm a huge fan of classic cyberpunk, some of my favorites being Neuromancer by William Gibson, Hardwired by Walter Jon Williams, and Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson.
I'm a computer programmer by education (BS and MS in computer science), and did web development for HP for about ten years. Then I moved into strategy and management, and worked on social media and web optimization for eight years.
Then a few years ago I read Ray Kurzweil's The Singularity is Near, and noticed how many science fiction books gloss over the moment of artificial intelligence emergence. I set about to remedy the situation and published my first novel. One of the best pieces of advice I received was from the writer David D. Levine who told me to "keep the pipeline full". So although I never imagined I would continue to write, I'm now at work on my fifth book.
I have three kids and live in Portland, Oregon.
