Hi. Well I thought I would plunder your collective knowledge and see if you could come up with something fab.

I'm a chef writing a book about my funny experiences in various kitchens. There arent actually that many books out there, I know because i read them and enjoy them and am always searching for more. Not that that means there is a great readership for them. One or two have done very well. e.g. Kitchen Confidential / A Cooks Tour / Heat / Cooking Dirty / Spiced /etc

I had a few ideas, my favourite so far is

In the Heat of the Kitchen

(a play on words of in the heat of the moment as its a very tense place to work) but i feel kind of a fraud because I also chose this as I assume it would bring my book up on searches for the others of a similar style by the similarity of the name.

More jokingly I liked

The Cook, The Beef, His Knife and the Oven

You probably have to be over thirty to get the joke (and say it out loud) so thats probably not a winner

Other idea was

Out of the Frying Pan

Sigh.... Are these just rubbish? Does anyone have any good ideas? Many many thanks in advance!

I usually hate pun titles, but I totally laughed over A Fridge Too Far.

Picking titles is really tough.  I think the reason why titles like Kitchen Confidential and Cooking Dirty work so well is because they encapsulate so much of the big idea in just two words.  You know from the first word in each title that you're dealing with the chef's world as the setting.  You know from the second that it's the kind of peek into that world that you won't get anywhere else.

Shorter titles are always better than long ones, IMO.

Instead of puns or references to old sayings, what about one-word titles like Heat or Spiced that make you think of high stakes (not steaks!) or being on the edge?

Grilled
Raw (Anotherdreamer's suggestion)
Skewered
Nuked
...you get the idea.

That's Forked Up

If we're doing other media pun titles, how about:

Grill Bill
Lord of the Hot Wings
The Sporks
End of Glaze
Dicer, Dicer (starring Jim Curry)
Stir Wars
Teenage Basteland
Steamboy (wait...)
