Greetings from GA. My name is Elisia and I have been a Kindle owner for exactly three months and a board lurker for almost as long. My mom introduced me to the Kindle about six months ago. I thought it was a cool concept, but thought nothing much of it. Then I had to travel overseas for about two weeks and didn't want to carry a bunch of books in my luggage. I remembered the Kindle and gave it a second (and third) glance. Thanks to the Amazon and Citibank $100 off promotions, I couldn't resist and I took the plunge. Mom was right once again (just like she was about TiVo
).
At home, it's been a blast being able to read and pet my dog, Duncan, at the same time (which he greatly appreciates
). While waiting for delayed flights, it's been wonderful for passing the time--either through reading or spreading the word about the wonders of the Kindle.
I've definitely been reading a lot more than I have in the past several years. Thanks to the Kindle, I've also been introduced to a lot of authors that I would have missed otherwise. In turn, I've been able to introduce friends who are still reading traditional books to these authors. It's a win-win for eBooks and traditional books.
The Kindle has been an excellent investment and I know I've easily recouped the costs between the free and discounted books that I've downloaded. Unfortunately, I can't get Mom a Kindle this Christmas to thank her, but she will definitely be getting one next year.
Thanks for having such a wonderful board for Kindle users and I look forward to reading the comments/questions posted.
