How many sales and how fast do you have to be to get in on the Hot New Releases in the erotica or contemporary romance categories?

I'm on the romance>short stories HNR right now (#14 The Professor - link in sig). I'm guessing it's based on your overall rank and requires that your release date be <1month. I believe that's the gist of it, but I could be wrong.

My latest book released Sunday night and it's #59 on the HNR list in romance. I've sold just shy of 1000 copies for it to get there.

[the quiet one]

My second full-length novel is at #6 for Science Fiction->High Tech. Pace the last three days (12/23-25) is about 17 per day. That's good for #87 on the overall Science Fiction list. (For reference, John Scalzi's presales for a new 13 episode serial novel are dominating the overall Science Fiction list. He still can't dance like Hugh, of course. )

The novella is at #26 on the High Tech list, running at 4-5 per day.

It will be interesting to see the differences in numbers for different genres. Liliana, that's just a staggering number of sales - congratulations!
