What an interesting experience. I wonder how the woman recognized you? Picture on the back of a paperback? Did she hear your name mentioned while you were at the bank counter? Was she psychic? 
Like you, very few people I know in "real life" know I write books, so I too would find it "weird" if someone actually pointed me out as a author. But you never know, now maybe other people at the bank will know you're an author and look up your stuff, or the woman will tell her friends "I met an author today." Every little bit helps.
