I downloaded a book that I decided I didn't want and tried to delete it.  The system put the book into the Archive from where I can't delete it.
What do I do now?  I really need to lose it, it's presence is irritating.  If this was a computer there would be no problem.  LOL

Rie has it right! Amazon's theory is they don't want to make it too easy to accidentally delete a book you really meant to keep.

So: if you buy a book and realize right away you don't want it. . . .you have 7 days to request a refund, no questions asked. Send an e-mail indicating the order number and/or contact them using 'call me back': Kindle Customer Support.

If it's been more than 7 days, you can use the manage your Kindle section as Rie described -- but note, you will NOT get your money refunded in this case. And, as she said, if you change your mind and want it back, you'll have to buy it again. There will be many warnings confirming you want to delete it.
