How do I maximize kdp ?

I realize there is a kdp thread going... but it is so filled with negativity that I refuse to participate in it..

Also what I am looking for is a little more specific that gripes or promo of kdp. What I would like to know is if there is a way (marketing plan etc) that people use to maximize kdp.

Basically how can one increase the number of borrows ? Does one use the same principles of selling books anywhere else ? Cover, Blurb, Marketing etc.
or do you have a specific thing you do that helps kdp numbers...

Hopefully there is a great blog post or article one of you fine writes has somewhere
