Not only do I find it difficult to make an interesting blurb, but as my attempts start sounding more and more like a cheesy 80s action movie trailer voice over, they're getting shorter. Some as short as one paragraph. They're containing the pertinent hooks for the book, but I'm worried they're too short after seeing some descriptions that seem to take up half a page.
My personal belief is the shorter the better. Remember it's a "hook" to get folks to buy the book. I've seen some blurbs that ramble on and on and on, and successfully convince me that I don't want the book.
Maybe go sample some blurbs in your genre and see which ones work in your opinion?
