Amazon.com has picked up my English books via the mobipocket.com site, but two of them do not show covers. Instead, they display a "No image available" graphic:

How long should it take for a cover to display on the main Amazon.com site once the Kindle book is made available?

It can take a week or so; if it doesn't show up after that, contact your publisher, or if you have access, re-upload the file yourself. Eventually the images will how up.

This applies to books picked up from the Mobipocket site as well as those uploaded directly via the Kindle author/publisher interface?

Titles published on the Mobipocket site appear immediately - there's no wait at all.

Another note for Kindle Store titles: at least for titles published via Amazon's DTP, the catalog entry will usually not appear all at once. Usually the cover image and price shows up first, then the description shows up later. They're improving the time for getting it all out there, but as Thumper noted it can still take a while...

Yes - but unfortunately, changes or uploads made at Mobipocket seem to take a long time to appear at Amazon.com. Actually, I have discovered that the title shows up first, followed by details, and the cover is the very last item to appear.
