I have the kindle touch but my friend has a kindle white, and has asked me how to get back to the home page when halfway through a book, as it doesn't have the button like kindle touch,  as it is different to mine, we dont know how to get back.

Tap at the top of the screen and the menu will have, among other things, a home icon all the way to the left.

Strongly recommend your friend review the Kindle user's guide which come pre-downloaded on each device. It'll have these sorts of basic things. If for some reason he/she has deleted it from the device, it should still be available in the Cloud to be re-downloaded.
