I was out camping this weekend, and the moon, while not full, was quite bright. I knew that as bright as the moon may seem, it's not bright enough to read by. But I figured that if the font was large enough, you might be able to read. So I took my Kindle out in the moonlight, and set the font to maximum. I found that I could read quite clearly. I then set it one size smaller. I could still read, but it wasn't quite as easy. I then set the font one size smaller, and I could not read at all. I could see that there were words, but I couldn't read them.

I think that even with a large print book you wouldn't have been able to read by moonlight. So, the answer to the question of whether you can read by moonlight is only if you have a really big font... and a Kindle helps.

I had wanted to test my hypothesis that you could read by moonlight if the font was large enough, but I didn't have any large print material. Then it occurred to me that with the Kindle, I did. My daughter likes me to put the font as large as possible when I read to her. I also like to make the font larger when I am running on a treadmill.

I crank up the font as large as possible so that I can read without wearing my glasses.  I think it's more relaxing for my eyes -- and it makes me feel a little younger. :)

I also like using a large font when I'm reading a classic children's book (like The Jungle Book or The Wind in the Willows). Because then the large font makes me feel like I'm reading a story book.... :)

This is a great idea!

One of the things I miss about physical books is the care put into the formatting, font choice, etc. of the good ones. Your idea replicates this to a degree. Fun. ;D

It does sound romantic!!!

My eyes, though, aren't what they used to be. It might have to be a REALLY bright moon, lol.
Haha! Same here. But I love the idea.

I don't know about reading in moonlight, but I love that I can read in bed in the dark without my glasses. All I need is my lighted cover and the 2nd largest font.

Kindles are AWESOME.
