My new easy way of doing it
Put front picture in pace centred, stretch it until it fills the margins and pull it down until it looks about right. There should be a very small margin at page bottom. Send it to Amazon as a convert email.  It comes back to you five minutes later as a azw file. Load it into your Kindle so you can see how it looks. Repeat email procedure if there's anything drastically wrong that you need to put right. You've still got your original word file, right? When everything looks OK upload it via your kindle publishing page. Voilà, the perfect e book.

Uhhh  ... you just spoke another language to me. ??? What e-mail are you referring to? Amazon has a 'convert e-mail'?

And here I was uploading my word doc and/or prc file. :-\
You have a unique Amazon email address with your registration. should be something like this [email protected] When you want a personal doc converted you send it with the address: [email protected] and put convert in the subject line. It takes about 5 minutes before it comes back. You will get a notification email where you just click to download the file, or you can have it delivered straight to your kindle by wifi. Here's a link for you.

It's dead easy, believe you me.

I wondered about that but haven't tried it. Are you sending them a Word doc file? Docx?

This is astounding. Thank you for posting. Sorry I have another question if you don't mind. Where did you find out that your unique address was "[email protected]". I registered with my regular yahoo.com address. Was I automatically assigned a kindle.com address? If so, how do I find it?

OK, that makes sense.

BTW, what's with all the references to "pedants?" Not the first time I've seen that in your posts. Seems gratuitous.

This is, after all, a Writers Cafe... that's part of a readers board... Some might take offense at the assumption that you need such a qualifier...

I'm not sure why it's in the subject, but for anyone who is confused about the meaning, from the Miriam -Webster online dictionary:

Pedant
A person who is excessively concerned with minor details and rules or with displaying academic learning

Thanks for the link. I read through it and it says you get a unique address when you register your kindle. Maybe I can't until I get a kindle. Right now I purchase books and download them to my kindle reader for pc. Maybe it won't give a unique address unless you actually have the kindle instead of kindle reader for the pc? Is that your understanding?

Yes, it is. Maybe you can get somebody to do it for you until you have a Kindle?

Ok. But still thanks so much for the info. Just knowing how to do the conversion is invaluable.
