I'm Kindle-less

Help! It's sinking in that my beloved Edgar is GONE! I've already shipped him to his new home. I've already found myself looking for him twice this evening. I'm happy I found him a new loving home so quickly, and I don't regret selling him. His new companion is very happy he's on the way.

I've had a Kindle since March and have taken it with me everywhere and have used it everyday. I always make sure it's in my purse before I leave and I read every night when I go to bed.

I do have access to my daughter's Kindle, she doesn't use it nearly as much as I use mine, so it's not like I won't be able to read. I have several books on my ipod waiting to be listened to and I can always try out the ereader on it. Also, I'll be very busy at work this next couple of weeks (Valentines weekend is nuts at restaurants and Lobsterfest starts next Tuesday) so I probably won't have much time/energy to be reading anyway. If I was going to be without a kindle for 2 weeks, this is the right time to do it..But, it's kinda like I gave away my blankie. <sniff>

Feb 25th can't come soon enough.

I couldn't cope - you're a strong, strong woman!
I really feel for you... I can't imagine not being without my Kindle.
A shining example to internet sellers everywhere. (I still won't buy anything from them but still, you're the best!) ;)
Just remember, if anything bad happens to Edgar, its on your head.    ;)
I was going to overnight him, but UPS wanted $66?!?!?! Can you believe that? I've gotten SO spoiled by Amazon's $3.99 next day shipping with the Prime that I never imagined it would cost that much. I felt so bad when I had to settle on 2nd day shipping.

As for how quick it was, I knew if I didn't do it now, I'd start thinking and over analyzing it. I wanted the kindle2, but there's no way I could have gotten it without selling this one first. She literally bought it 2 minutes after I posted and had the money to me shortly after. I was heading into town today anyway so there was no reason not to send it out. I just took the time to back up the samples I had and sync what I was reading (that's a nice new feature of firmware 1.2 BTW)

Yes, there's a small part of me that feels guilty for selling Edgar so fast (I folded like an accordian as soon as I saw features of the k2) but as someone else said, oh, shiny...click. It kinda happened too fast to really think about it.
I purchased a K1 from a forum member this afternoon and now after reading your posts, Luv, I am feelling bad for him. Now he is going to be kindless until his new K2 arrives. I don't think I could handle the withdrawal!!
I feel your pain luvmy4brats, I'm also Kindleless.  I UPS her to her new owner yesterday morning.  I still have my Sony PRS-505 so I'll be reading from that exclusively until Amazon send me mine Kindle.  I myself chose free shipping, so it wont ship until March 2nd; so I'll without it for a month!
Hah!  Mine is sitting on my ironboard, along with 2 covers, ready to pack off and ship to his new owner too.  Sigh. I've already deregistered him on Amazon.  So excited tho about getting Kindle 2.  Guess I need to read some of my hardcovers until then!

It does?! Thanks for the heads up. Hey, if you don't mind my asking: how long does the L-fest usually go on? I always seem to miss it and it's the only time I like to go there.

Cheers,
Xia
Me too.  ;D  Mine is all boxed up to go to the Post Office in an hour.  I transferred the book I was reading to my mobile phone.  Definitely different, but not appalling.  I also have some hardcovers from the library.

We like Lobsterfest too :)
Poor baby!  I would be a basket case without my Kindle now - I can't imagine being without for weeks, the withdrawal would be too difficult; I don't  know if I am even  physically capable of turning pages of a DTB anymore.  Hang in there!
I have a buyer (Craigslist) who wants to meet up Saturday and I am still wondering if I want to go through with it!
I emphathize with you, iluvmy4brats.  I too am Kindle-less.  It happened so fast that my head is spinning.

Came in yesterday morning and checked the Kindleboards.  Realized there might be a market for K1's, and listed my Kindle by 10:30 on both the Kindleboards and Craigslist.  Within 1.5 hours I had 3 calls and a formal offer to purchase for my selling price.  And by 8:00 p.m. last night, my Kindle was gone.

I told the guy that bought it that I was going to go home and cry myself to sleep.  Didn't actually cry, but I layed there for a while wonder just HOW I was going to cope until the K2 arrived.

I mean, come ON, I was nearing the end of Outlander and now I have to wait until Feb 25th to finish it.  Sheesh!!

You guys are way stronger then me, I could never sell my Kindle if I did not have another 6 inch e-ink device. If I did not have the PRS-505, I don't think I would have been able to cope. I was able to load all my new books to the Sony and just read from that.
Xia, I believe Lobsterfest is 8 weeks. I wrote it down somewhere..There should be $4 off coupons in the paper in a few weeks too. It's our favorite promo. We've got some yummy stuff we're adding (Lobster Nachos, Surf and Turf)

Lilly, Luckily, I have my daughter's kindle and my ipod to fall back on. I don't think I could have done it otherwise.

Stargazer05, You're stronger than me. I synced several of my books to my daughter's kindle and picked up where I left off...and to sell it mid-Outlander? Oh my! I couldn't do it (and I've read it several times)

Octochick, That is why I sold it and shipped it immediately. No chance to change my mind. I do have times when I ask myself "What were you thinking? But then I just look at the pics of k1 and calm down.

Everyone else, than you so much. I know may of you are finding yourself like Kindleless as well. Be strong, it's only 2 weeks and then we'll be among the first to have our new and improved (and sexier, yeah, i said it, it is) kindle2
Luv you will be happy to know that Edgar has arrived safe and sound.  He is a little shy of his new owner but I bet he warms up very soon.

I even showed Edgar off at work to 3 ladies.  They were all oooh-ahhh he's so handsome!  I think 2 of them are going to be looking for K's themselves.

Thank you so much for allowing me to adopt!
I am not even THINKING  about a new home for K1 until K2 is in my hot little hands...
