Thank you, Janet, for pointing out that my ad in the Writer's Cafe Yellow Pages had been removed! The Librarian explained that everyone with an ad there has to have a moderator-approved thread in the Writer's Cafe, so I hope this thread gets approved. I will try to be on my best behavior and keep my voice down.

Very happy to recommend Cherise.

We worked together on my last book, and she did an amazing job of the proofreading. It always amazes me what a keen, intelligent eye can spot in a manuscript. (Not sure what that says about my own vision.  ;))

Cherise is sharp, organized and a pleasure to work with.

Hi. I've just book marked your blog because how fab to find a place that I can get a good editor and a weight loss motivator!
Heh! I can barely manage to keep up with weekly posts on one blog, so yeah, I've thrown all my stuff together. Konrath recommended it, so blame him. He said something like, "Draw them in with one thing, and then sell them your books or services while they're there!"

Are you able to produce two edited versions? One for the English market where certain spellings are left unchanged and one for the American market where you have made the changes?
I would love to produce an edited American English version for you!

However, I am not qualified to produce an edited British English version. Maybe I could if it were in Victorian or Elizabethan English, but not in modern British English. You see, not only spelling is different, but also punctuation, at least. For all I know, there are other conventions that differ, as well. That's just it: I am unfamiliar with modern British English spelling and conventions.

Cherise did a great job fixing errors that were still lingering in our published Kindle book. She cleaned it up for us, and we're republishing. We're going to hire her again. (Her prices are good, too . . am I supposed to say that?)

Cherise, As soon as I get this latest project off the ground, I think I'd want to hire you as an editor. I'll check your site for details in a little while, but is there a specific place (email / web submission form) or way that you prefer to accept sample edits? I'm sure all information is on your site. Also, my writing varies from epic fantasy to dark fantasy. There will be a good amount of violent content. Are you comfortable working within those genres?

Cherise, I have a new children's book coming out this fall and will need it edited. (Yes, even editors need fresh eyes on their writing!)
I wrote a relatively lengthy message to parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals, as well as the text of the book and some backmatter. Is it okay if I send one email that has several attachments?

Of course it is, Janet. :)

Hi Cherise, I'll bookmark your thread also.

I'm not in the yellow pages for the same reason. I have paid for a banner ad before and I'm still a little annoyed, because I don't want to do this sort of promotional on a thread, so I probably won't ever end up in the yellow pages, but I'm not going to be buying any more banner ads, either. So, I'm probably $80 or $120 richer, but I'm not in the yellow pages. LOL

Hi Catchy,

I am in the Yellow Pages! All I had to do was start this thread and give the Librarian the url to it. :) Hope that helps!

Sorry I didn't address this earlier.

I don't like horror, where the main point of the violence is to, well, horrify the reader. So long as the violence serves a higher purpose (saving the world or even just one person), I am fine with violence. I do understand the ploy of showing the villain's violence in order to make us want him defeated, too.

I'm thrilled to recommend Cherise for editing and proofreading. She worked on After the Fall and I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of work she did. I love that she sent me almost daily updates on where she was at in the editing process. It put my mind at ease knowing that she was working on it. She answers emails quickly, meets her deadlines, and her pricing is extremely reasonable.

If you're looking for an editor or proofreader, Cherise is your woman!

I would also like to highly recommend Cherise as an editor.

She's just finished "Ability" I & II, and gave "It's Better This Way" a real, proper edit. She's very easy to work with, and only yelled at me three times.

Okay, she didn't yell at me, but I yelled at myself in her voice when I realized some of the dumb mistakes I constantly make.

I'll definitely be using her again in the future.

Cherise,

I coulda sworn I had welcomed you! So sorry! Here it is.

Welcome to KBoards! [br][br]You're welcome to promote your business and website here in the Writers' Café, but we ask that the same basic rules be followed as we have for authors in the Book Bazaar: you may have one thread about your service and must post to it rather than start a new thread each time. New threads about the service will be removed. Please bookmark this thread so that you can find it again to post to. And, you may not make back-to-back posts to the thread within seven days. If someone responds (such as this post), you may reply but otherwise must wait seven days, thanks![br][br]Also, active members (10 or more posts on our forum, active in the last 60 days) may have a listing in the Yellow Pages for Authors.
