Is Amazon pressuring sites to promote fewer free books?

Hey All-
I just read this on a free book promotional site:
"With Amazon pressuring book sites to promote fewer and fewer free books..."
Is this really true? If so, why? I realize the obvious answer would be money but Amazon makes money off of Indies, too. What gives?

Yes. There are other threads here, but I'm too lazy to look.

It's just for people who make $ off affiliate links. Anyone is still free to promote whatever they want ... but if they want a chunk of the pie, Amazon has some leverage.
