Can I abandon the Createspace ISBN I first published my paperback under and create a new book with Ingram Spark? At the time I published, I was just trying to keep costs low, but now I regret that. I have ISBNs already from Bowker.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to unpublish your paperback with Createspace and publish a new edition with Ingram Sparks. You can absolutely do that. You just need to go to myidentifiers.com and list the Createspace edition as "Out-of-Print" and then assign a new ISBN to the new edition for Ingram Sparks.

Not sure what your plan is, but in case you didn't know, you can use the same ISBN for both Ingram and CS. You just can't use a CS ISBN at Ingram (or anywhere else). Also don't enroll your CS version in Expanded Distribution or Ingram will tell you it's already in use.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, I did know that, but I used a free Createspace ISBN when I first published my paperback last year. Now I want to use one from my block of ISBNs instead.

Okay, cool. I know some people were saying you should use two, but I don't quite understand why that would be beneficial.

Hope that helps!

Rue, do you know if it's possible to use Createspace's expanded distribution at first, then take it out of there and use Ingram for expanded distribution instead? With the same ISBN?
If you purchased the ISBN, then yes, you can do this. You can turn off channels in Createspace.
