Issues with Battery indicator and Kindle bookstore.

We are trying to charge my daughters 7inch HD on the computer.  We only have one of the quick chargers, so she is using the computer to charge while mine is charging with the quick charger.  We noticed that the battery indicator will not turn green (it does turn green with the quick charger.)  I downloaded one of the battery monitors, and it says that the Fire is charging.  Which should I believe, and does anyone else have this problem?

Also, she is having trouble using the bookstore.  It will not let her select a book to read the synopsis.  Last night, I got it to work after re-booting, but she said that after she went to bed it started doing the same thing.  I am starting to wonder if I should exchange it for a new one.  I had a 7inch for a week before I upgraded to the 8.5 and neither of those systems gave me any problems.  What would you do?

Thanks,
Tammie

It may not be drawing enough to actually charge through the computer, especially if you're using it at the same time.  Not all computer ports are designed to charge things. . .some are just for data.

But any plug in charger would work, even if not the "PowerFast" ones. . . .I've used chargers from other kindles as well as the one for my smart phone.

The synopsis won't show if she can't connect via wifi.
We were not actively using the Fire while it was charging.  It did charge...but slowly, I just think it is odd that the green light would not come on.

The issue with the store--she was connected to wifi, she had just downloaded apps, and was browsing the kindle store.  The only problem she had was when she would choose a book to try to get more info.  For example she did a search for "Tween books for girls", the list of books came up, and from there she could not select a book to get info on.  I did the same exact thing on my 8.5, and was able to click on individual books.

Missed this the first time. . . .there is no charge light on the HD Fires.

If the browser or anything is behaving oddly, I'd suggest restarting it. Hold the power button until it asks you to confirm a shut down and do so. Give it a few seconds and turn it on again to reboot.

Other members have mentioned this as an issue when browsing the Kindle store on their Fires. I have the 8.9, and don't browse much on it, so can't tell you if it is a consistant problem with the 7 inch Fires, but we have had a couple of threads about it.
