Thanks, guys - it's been a frustrating 30 years.  I think opportunity abounds for authors now.

One thing I got from an article by a business writer named Dale Dauten really stuck with me. He said that there are lots of things a company can try.  (Company, loosely being related to author).  It's trial and error, and they may have to go through tens, hundreds, thousands of possible solutions, but one or two or three will be right.  Companies can't turn on a dime, but authors can.  We can try one thing, and discard it, after a suitable trial period.  We can find the sweet spot, because we're nimble.  So try things, give it time, and see what results. 

Oh, and write the best book you can.
