Back to the Kindle Gift Card... I don't understand why it's better or different than a regular Amazon gift card.

It's no better. It's the same. It just says Kindle on it. It applies to your account just like a regular gift card does. It even says you can use it to buy Kindle books or other items for Amazon. I checked.
