Why does KB crash almost daily?

Hmm... I hope that's not the case! We did have to reboot our db server earlier today, and we did have to do so a few days ago. Sorry for that inconvenience, I know it's disruptive.

We do have occasional slowness of the site, but from my logs it seems that it clears itself momentarily. Let me know, though, if you're seeing daily or near-daily outages.

The known issue that I am addressing is the slowness and time-outs that occur during our (midnight Pacific time) backups... we're working now on an alternative that should help significantly with that.

Maybe it's North Korea?
more than likely NSA :p
I do not accept VerticalScope's Terms Of Service on Kboards, and have asked for my account to be deleted, along with all of my posts.

If you are here as a result of a Google search, leave now. The owners of this site are interested only in your possible ad revenue.
I am seeing daily outages, but this was discussed a year or so ago, and our early evening scheduled KB blackout at 7pm (with daylight saving in the US now rescheduled to 6pm) continues to be a daily feature. I can set my watch to it.

I thought this was part of the regular operation of the site, or at least I was assured that this was the case last year.

Yeah. North Korea couldn't spy its way out of a paper bag. :p
In fact, they don't even have paper bags in North Korea out of which to spy themselves.

Capitalist propaganda from the western devils!
My vote is for Flay Otters' powerful intellect - (l)otter power.

Yes, that sounds like it corresponds with our daily backups, given the 16-, 17-, or 18-hour time differences between Pacific time and Australia time zones. Hopefully we'll have an improvement to announce regarding that shortly!

Fair point - maybe we ott.
Well that's solved then. Thanks, Harvey, but North Korea, the intelligensia, western propaganda, otter's flayed power and Oz blackouts seem to have got you beat.
