Hi Guys,

I'm doing a series of posts on my blog about book covers - it's a recurring theme of my blog... I really like covers - anyway, I am hoping to do one post dedicated to AWESOME kid-lit book-covers by indie/self published authors. Ideally I would like to find specifically MG books (8-12 year olds), but lower YA is good too. Upper YA is "okay" but if I get enough geared for the lower ages, those are the ones I'll be using. I hope to find at least 10. If I find more, I'll keep them and use them next time I do a post. Happy to notify people when I'll be posting them.

I just did a general cover-art-related post on my blog today (http://www.stevewhibley.blogspot.ca/2013/02/cover-art-love.html), so you can check it out if you want to see what kind of tone the post will be and the kinds of kid-lit covers I happen to love.

If you could post a your kid-lit cover (again, that's MG or YA) here, or email it to me, or send it via carrier pigeon .. . . I know there are some really great ones out there and I just want to showcase them.

Cheers

Mine are probably a little low-octane for what you have been showing, but I will say that since I shot them myself, and I can also shoot video, that the series will eventually have a book trailer that matches the covers where we took the three kids in their fictional school uniforms out in the woods and had them chasing each other and other fun things.

"Elektra" had the best evil laugh EVER and I can't wait to use it in the trailer.

Thanks for putting yours out there, TexasGirl. Yours might work, but if I don't end up using them for this particular post, I do have a quite a few others planned that I might use one, or a couple for (I'm thinking about doing a few cover-related posts. One, in the back of my head, would be about commonalities in covers for a series). I'll drop you a note if I use one of your books in any of my posts!

Thanks again.

Email's fine if you want, but if they're in your signature, and you have them for sale on amazon, I'll find them! Probably easiest that way.
They are in my signature, but I've also emailed them - belt and braces ::)

Wow, I really like the covers in your blog post. Mine are much less fancy. My Timekeepers: A Revolutionary Tale is below in my signature. (The second Timekeepers book, Civil Disturbance, is getting a new cover that isn't in the siggy yet.)

These are for YA PNR. I shot both in my studio and did the cover design. They're aimed at ages 12-16.

This one is YA Romance. This is the cover thats on the paperback. Target age is 12 & up.

That post has some really awesome looking book covers. I LOVE covers. I'm a total cover whore. I can't help it. A pretty cover makes me swoon. Very cool post. :)

omigosh, I'm in love with those covers in your link! They're gorgeous!

The two covers in my sig are lower YA (15 year old protags) - though these are not the action styles of the book covers you have there.

I also have a MG that I've just had a cover created for - it's in cartoon style by a very talented cartoonist - (though nothing at all like the styles you have depicted in your link)

It needs a title and a couple of small changes, which will hopefully be in place by the end of this weekend.

No problem at all if none of these suit :)

Edited to say: I just realised your post said 'AWESOME kid-lit book-covers by indie/self published authors' - does that mean covers that are created by indie authors themselves?

No, no, as long as the book is self published, and I love the cover, I'll use it! I suspect those who used professional artists, or are professional artists themselves, will have a sizable edge.

Thanks everyone for posting covers! These are really great and I'm getting a nice little list building here. I will message people if I'm going to use their covers, and I'll let them know the day before the post goes live. I usually schedule my blog posts, so I know well in advance when they're going to be "posted." It's not going to be tomorrow or anything. Probably a week or two so I can space out the cover-related posts a bit.

Cheers
