So, my e-commerce site GirdedTurtle, is not up yet, but i am making cases for the Kindle. this is the first design that I have available. It is a leather bookcase with a gilt, framebox facsimile of pages. inside, embedded bookleaf is a solid shield to protect the kindle, which is held in place with velcro. Imagine the impact that would require, crushing the edge framebox and piercing the leather cove, the bookcard and the embedded shield before getting to your kindle. and yet these cases are very lightweight. this one weighs in at approx 8 oz. I orginally designed this case because last spring my first kindle's screen was destroyed with a very nominal impact while housed in a sleeve case during a business trip. since that time my replacement kindle has been in and out of planes, trains rental cars, subways and cruise ships all around NA, in the first case I made totally unscathed.

I am selling this case design for $60 .click on the images to see larger versions

working on others that are clothbound instead of leather, as well. It interesting, before i started using this to travel, i spent lots of time explaining to people what that strange looking device i was reading was, now people just assume book, and dont pay attention.

elaina,

thank you.

i have found going from hobbiest to actually making this as something that is - attractive, durable, and affordable has been a challenge. this first design has changed somewhat since these pictures have posted, but i am almost done with the prototyping and am a few weeks from being able to effectively market them. comments and input from fellow members of the board have helped me greatly as i have gone through this process.
so noticed you avatar is  tink's castle- are you a serious disney person?  sometimes i think that is my family's second home

Love the case and concept!  You are lucky to know what will be a hot commodity!  I can't wait to see your designs.

I just got a K-2 and surprise surprise, it comes with no cover whatsoever.  So it stays in the box till I find a cover, because I'm NOT buying that hilarious $65 2 year "extended" warranty - have you got any K-2 cover designs for sale?
