I am getting a Kindle 2 For our Daughter . I have 2 questions . I already have Kindle 2 when I order hers I will be putting on our account and we will do gift cards for our books . How do I order it in her name like Jo Ann's Kindle , I am Skeet's Kindle ?? Question # 2 How do we share the books that I have already both in Archives and also on Home Page that I have not read yet ?

You can change the name of her Kindle either at your Amazon account or directly from the Kindle (go to the settings page). Note that this will change the name that shows up on the home screen of the Kindle and the drop down menus at Amazon. But when she opens the "Welcome" letter from Jeff Bezos, that will be addressed to you. The "fundamental" name on the account can't be changed.

To share books: things that are in the archive will show up on both or your Kindles. She can just download directly from the archive to her Kindle. You can also go to your media library (www.amazon.com/yml) or the "manage my Kindle" section of your Amazon account and "push" stuff to her.

It's harder to explain than to do. Once you see the various screens on your Kindles and at your account, it will all make lots of sense.

Enjoy!

But now she'll have access to all of your 'guilty pleasure' books.  Bodice rippers, vampire porn, ooo, I could go on!

I am sure that Ribbit doesn't read any of that stuff...

But if you want a recommendation for a good codpiece ripper, just ask me!

Yes... Zero has a good point.

If you want her to have her "own" account, just have her sign up for an Amazon account (or do it for her) and purchase it from her account.

I share with my daughter and it works wonderfully. We like a lot of the same books, but not all. She is into the vampire books, I just can't read about the blood sucking, yuk. The nice thing is that when you go to the Manage Your Kindle page, you can download the books to your Kindle if you want. This is what you see on the Manage Your Kindle page.

Used to read Mom's books, too. I was reading Julie Garwood at the age of 11-12....she didn't know, but still I read them.

My BFF is on my account, but I do all the purchasing. I'm trying to get her to read more. She's loves a lot of the same books I read. Push books all the time....annoys her that I am taking up space on her iphone, but that's before she reads the book.
