Honestly, I doubt a K4 will come out anytime soon.

The special offers K3s are pretty new (the 3G one very new!) and all the rumors are on the rumored Amazon tablets.  My guess is that will be there new product launch this fall/holiday season and the K4 wouldn't come until 2012 at the earliest since the K3 is still going strong.

If you wait until they're as good as they're going to get and as cheap as they're going to get, you'll never get one.

I bought a K3 and I am quite happy with it. If a K4 comes out I would get one and make my K3 a back-up, that's what I do with cameras, too, but I could read quite happily on my K3 from now on.

Wow, thanks for all the helpful advice and input.

I think the consensus here is to just get it and I think that is what I'll do.
If I'm lucky, an announcement will come out before my return date is up. If not though, I doubt I would care much about a new Kindle anymore as I should be content with the one I have (Same thing happened with my Macbook pro).
Worst comes to worst, I'll sell or give away my K3 as Moneypenny suggested and grab the new Kindle if it is a great improvement.

I'm with several of the others. I'm not so certain there will be a Kindle 4 anytime soon. Personally, I'm a little behind the curve. Bought my Kindle 2 about 8 months before the K3 came out. Do I have envy? Yup. It's so much lighter. But in the end the K2 works just fine. I figure I'll just be the first to get the newest model when it comes out.

This is ALWAYS a problem. I know someone who bought a Kindle 2 JUST before Kindle 3 was announced, she whined for a week, but now she is quite happy with her Kindle 2.

This was me aswell lol and i was 2 days outside the limit when they said they would refund the difference

I say get it now  I love my k3, especially with the lighted cover. I don't think they can really improve on the current Kindles without making them colour, but even then the only time I would even notice that it was colour would be for book covers. I'm really happy with my current set up, I upgraded from k2 just so I could have the lighted cover and pearl screen and they are really great. I use mine every day and would hate to be without it, I think they are worth getting asap just so you can access the indie authors and free classics.
