Has anyone noticed that Kindle Unlimited seems to be adding a lot of pretty popular books from past times?  They've been adding books by Donna Leon, Dean Koontz, Erle Stanley Gardner, Ellis Peters, J K Rowling, Kristin Hannah, Richard Condon and Harold Robbins.

Maybe some of these have been there and I just now noticed but I really think KU is improving.  And it's been pretty good all along.  Especially for someone like me who likes older books. :)

Oh yeah, they've also added a lot of classics recently.

I think you're right that the addition of some very well known authors is pretty recent, but only older books, rather than new releases.

I think new releases in KU may be largely confined to lesser known or self pub authors, though I haven't made a particular study and that may just be my perception.

That's okay with me.  I like older books and I read more of them than I do newer books.

I first got into Kindle Unlimited when my Paperwhite 4 came with 6 months of it free.  I'd looked at it before but it didn't seem like a good deal for me.  When I got my free 6 months I looked at it for a while and didn't see anything that interested me and I decided to pick a book just to try it out.  I picked a legal thriller by an author I'd never heard of before.  I read it and it was excellent.  The book without KU was $10 and I'd never have paid $10 for a book I knew nothing about written by an unknown author and I realized I hadn't considered KU as a way to try out books like this so I stayed with it.  Offhand I'd say over half the books I've read since then came from KU.

I've always loved KU and hope it continues to grow. I think they must have a deal with Dean Koontz as they've also done a series for him with Amazon Originals

What book was this? Now you have me curious. 8)

BTW, does anyone else have an offer for six months of KU for $30 or is that YMMV?

Is that the lowest a membership has gone, or are there better deals on Black Friday?
