Links in Amazon descriptions?

Anyone ever do this? I saw a book today that had 7 of their other book covers as graphics in their description, with links to their books.

I know how to "hack" and get robust descriptions. My question is, is it ok to put links in your descriptions? Anyone ever had Amazon tell them not to do that?

I downloaded an ebook that gave info out on how to do it. The crazy thing is one could put a remote image up and collect stats such as impressions.

I don't know if I'd advise it though.. here's a summary

Were the links clickable? I have never seen that before.

I did give that a shot in mine but it didn't work. You can pull images that are externally hosted in by altering the html in the KDP dashboard.

Yes, they linked to other Amazon books.

And I've only been able to get this to work in Author Central, not KDP.
Once you edit it in Author Central, you can't go back to the KDP dashbaord. You can still use the altered html there but it won't work to pull in the images--that has to be done from the KDP dashboard. Changing the font colors, size etc worked fine for me in Author Central.

So they were internal Amazon links? I tried to link out to my website since my book features supplemental materials (like a workbook) but that may have been my problem.
Yes, they were internal Amazon links to their other books.

Like I said, I've never been able to use the html in KDP, only author central.

Are you substituting < and > for < and > in KDP? That is the trick...
Yeah, I know how to do all that. But could never get it to work in KDP. Perhaps because I already messed with it in Author Central. Hmmm.
