Making a cover change

I'm making a change to one of my covers and this is the first time I've done it.

I know lots of writers on this illustrious board have changed covers--for a variety of reasons--but I was wondering if, when you do, do you make a note of it in the product description to advise readers, or do you just make the change and say/do nothing?  :-\

Change the cover and go.  I think every time I walk into Barnes and Noble all of the DragonLance books have new covers.  It's the same book and Amazon won't let them buy it twice on accident.  Of course, tweet or post about the new cover.  It's kinda like getting a new car.

Agreed. Don't bother to note it in the description. Share on your own site and social media if you want though. :)
I added the old cover as one of the "customer images" on the product page and labeled it as the original cover to help avoid confusion.

Seems like a neat way to archive edition upgrades as well.

Ooh, cool idea. I might steal it.
I don't know how much it helps, but it couldn't hoit! :)
Sounds like everyone has reasonable suggestions!

Has anyone mentioned changing all your covers weekly? It's very fun. I'm doing some print-on-demand versions, and I didn't have high-resolution photos for my stuff, so I just made new ones. Oh, but then I didn't love the blurbs, so I had to re-write the blurbs. Yes, yes, so much fun. Writing? What writing?

That would get dizzy for Goodreads. They insist on showing all previous covers on your book's page.

I actually just disproved this. I went in, deleted a cover image and uploaded the new (now with 100% more eye-catching yellow) image.

The only reason it displays multiple covers on some works is because people do not delete and re-upload. They "add more images" in the librarian interface.
A cover change can often help kick-start slow sales. If it's a good cover. I call my old covers "collectible variants." ;)
