Anyone know of any great books set in Mississippi? All I can think of is John Grisham's The Firm and I would like to know more about the area.

Most of William Faulkner's novels are set in the (fictional) county of Yoknapatawpha, Mississippi.

Well, you can't beat HUCKLEBERRY FINN.  Huck and Jim travel through several states, and Mississippi is one of them.

The Firm's actually set in Memphis. But Grisham did set at least part of a number of his books in Mississippi. The ones I can think of are A Time to Kill, The Partner, The Rainmaker, and The Chamber.

Straker also mentioned Faulkner. It's hard to go wrong with Faulkner.

If you like fantasy/sci-fi, there is a series of books from E.E. Knight called 'Vampire Earth' and the characters go through Mississippi a couple of times.
