Hi all,
This morning I reduced the price of BEYOND PARALLEL to $.99 in a bid to bump me up the charts. I'm going to run this promotion until Thursday evening (21st Feb) and wanted to document want I have planned (the good, the bad, the ugly):
- I've created the Help Me Defeat Harry Potter Campaign (http://turndogmillionaire.com/99)
- Notified 10 website about this promotion (a total of $23 spent)
- A daily schedule that I'm going to stick to on Twitter & Facebook
- Contacted a few Goodread Groups I'm part of
- Contacted around 15 Twitter folk with decent followings
- Have 3 Blog Posts set-up for my own website (turndogmillionaire.com)
- Have 1 interview and 1 Guest Post lined up for the next couple of days
- Sent around 20 emails to bloggers and reviewers I know asking them to share the news
I haven't done anything special but wanted to see what a short promo could bring, and also share my experiences. I did want to try something a little quirky though, hence the Help Me Beat Harry Potter Campaign. I'm not sure what effect it will have, but I hope it will catch the attention and educate the everyday reader about what a few sales can do. This is the list I've come up with:
- 25 books = takes me above The Virgin Suicides
- 30 books = takes me above The Da Vinci Code
- 50 books = takes me above Of Mice & Men
- 75 books = takes me above The Bourne Identity
- 100 books = takes me above Fahrenheit 451
- 250 books = takes me above Nothing To Lose (of the Jack Reacher Series)
- 300 books = takes me above Harry Potter & The Sorcerers Stone
- 500 books = takes me above The Lightning Thief
- 600 books = takes me above Perks of being a wallflower
- 750 books = takes me above The Casual Vacancy
- 1,000 books = takes me above The Hunger Games
- 2,500 books = takes me above Fifty Shades Of Grey
Anyway, here's hoping …
Unfortunately funds are slim at the moment so I couldn't experiment with a more proven platform like BookBub. Hopefully a bit of momentum will be made.
I'll keep you updated
Matthew
