Hi all,
This morning I reduced the price of BEYOND PARALLEL to $.99 in a bid to bump me up the charts. I'm going to run this promotion until Thursday evening (21st Feb) and wanted to document want I have planned (the good, the bad, the ugly):

- I've created the Help Me Defeat Harry Potter Campaign (http://turndogmillionaire.com/99)
- Notified 10 website about this promotion (a total of $23 spent)
- A daily schedule that I'm going to stick to on Twitter & Facebook
- Contacted a few Goodread Groups I'm part of
- Contacted around 15 Twitter folk with decent followings
- Have 3 Blog Posts set-up for my own website (turndogmillionaire.com)
- Have 1 interview and 1 Guest Post lined up for the next couple of days
- Sent around 20 emails to bloggers and reviewers I know asking them to share the news

I haven't done anything special but wanted to see what a short promo could bring, and also share my experiences. I did want to try something a little quirky though, hence the Help Me Beat Harry Potter Campaign. I'm not sure what effect it will have, but I hope it will catch the attention and educate the everyday reader about what a few sales can do. This is the list I've come up with:

- 25 books = takes me above The Virgin Suicides
- 30 books = takes me above The Da Vinci Code
- 50 books = takes me above Of Mice & Men
- 75 books = takes me above The Bourne Identity
- 100 books = takes me above Fahrenheit 451
- 250 books = takes me above Nothing To Lose (of the Jack Reacher Series)
- 300 books = takes me above Harry Potter & The Sorcerers Stone
- 500 books = takes me above The Lightning Thief
- 600 books = takes me above Perks of being a wallflower
- 750 books = takes me above The Casual Vacancy
- 1,000 books = takes me above The Hunger Games
- 2,500 books = takes me above Fifty Shades Of Grey

Anyway, here's hoping …

Unfortunately funds are slim at the moment so I couldn't experiment with a more proven platform like BookBub. Hopefully a bit of momentum will be made.

I'll keep you updated
Matthew

Thanks, it's been interesting so far.

Beyond Parallel is currently at 13,000 after appearing as an ENT Bargain Book shifted a few dozen copies. I'm a long way from beating Harry Potter (and it doesn't look like this will happen now), but a strong push today could see me leapfrog a few of the books on the list.

Overall though the campaign seems to be liked by those who see it. It all adds up to the all important exposure a book needs, and hopefully a few more reviews and recommendations.

One more day to give it a really good push and try get as high as possible :)

I'm totally laughing about the name of your campaign. Clever!

If you don't mind my asking, what websites did you notify about the 99 cent sale (other than ENT Bargain Books promo, of course).

Good luck!

Other than ENT, these were the sites I notified (some Free, others cost $5)

http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/JYnv79CDm3Qqtz6dd91UMAFxB (11/02/2013) $5

http://www.dailycheapreads.com/your-two-cents-worth (11/02/2013)

http://www.kindlemojo.com/contact-info/ (11/02/2013) $5

http://www.ereaderiq.com/contact/ (11/02/2013)

http://pixelscroll.com/guaranteed-bargain-purchase-form/ (11/02/2013) $5

http://bargainebookhunter.com/guaranteed-bargain-placement-form/ (11/02/2013) $5

Other than ENT I can't say I've noticed any real impact from the others. In fact, most haven't notified about me anything so it's hard to know whether it will even go ahead. I've left the dates I sent the emails too. To show that I notified them over a week in advance. I hear this is an absolute must.
