My first book and I share a birthday!

My first book is going live across the internet on my birthday.  I didn't plan it this way; it wasn't meant to be symbolic.  The formatting and cover art were finished yesterday, so I began the process of uploading it last night.

And I'm happy.  I've been following your threads, your ups and downs, and I'm glad to finally cross this particular threshold, to stand among you.

I know I need to seek reviews, publicize, and continue working on my current book, but I at least wanted to post this here, take it in for a moment, and say thanks.

If I could pass around cake and ice cream in here, you'd all have as much as you could eat!

First, Happy Birthday To You!  I'd sing for you, but you don't want to hear my tone deaf screeching.  Congratulations on your first book going live!  I wish you many sales.  Oh, and I love your cover.  It's very eye catching.  I just got my cover finalized yesterday, and now I'm noticing everyone else’s.  ;D
Thanks, Ashley!  Your cover is amazing, too.  Does it help keep you motivated, knowing that you have the cover ready and just need to finish your work on your manuscript?  For World, the manuscript was already complete before I approached a cover artist, so it felt like getting the cover was the final step on this part of the journey.
What a lovely birthday present.  Congrats!!

Ashley is right...you have a great cover.  Ashley...your cover is gorgeous too!

Thanks! My MS is done, having gone through two revisions already. I'm just sitting on it for month so it'll be fresh before I finish the last minor revision. In August, it goes to my editor and then in October, it's publish time! Yippee! Having the cover definitely makes it feel real and keeps me chugging forward. I showed my husband my sig and he just smiled brightly and said, "You're really doing this! I'm so proud of you." It was a very nice moment.

I think it can be good to have an MS done (at least the first draft) before finalizing a cover, because sometimes the inspiration can come from those last dramatic scenes. (Your cover is very dramatic, and I love that. It catches my attention.) The scene on my cover was inspired by the last chapter in my book using my cover artist's brilliant skills and ideas.

Thanks! It was done by Streetlight Graphics, and I couldn't be happier!
