In the words of (I'm dating myself) the late comedian Flip Wilson..."The Devil made me do it!!"  I couldn't help it...it was an out of body experience...I was possessed.
This was my latest post in the forum:

The MANUAL comes -PRE-LOADED into your KINDLE before it is SHIPPED: READ IT!!!!!! Before asking the VERY SAME QUESTIONS....

So many post questions that are already very easy to understand in full detail point by point in the USERS GUIDE right in your KINDLE. READ IT...for all those who have; I thank you...for all those who haven't look up the word LAZY...your it.

I've often wondered why someone with a basic question would go to all the trouble of posting on the Amazon forum and waiting for a reply rather than pick up the pamphlet that came with the Kindle to look for an answer. Of course, I read the user's guide before I ordered the Kindle, plus the tips and trick, so pretty much knew how it worked before I bought.

Hmmm I guess I have just been on to many message boards to let stuff like that get to me.  It's always going to be an issue sadly.  I just browse and skip over the stuff that looks repetitive.  Life's to short to try and straighten everyone out, right?  :D That takes away time from reading!  But if it made you feel better then so be it.

**waiting for her Kindle to charge**  and yes I am reading the user guide, already used 'search' to find out how to transfer a few books I downloaded before even getting my Kindle via usb drive and what kind of files it accepts.  But I am sure I will eventually ask a stupid question.

Really this little device has so many people excited about reading and that can't be to bad.  ;D

That is the thing that is amazing. Yes, a few people have been unhappy and a few others have returned their Ks but the excitement and enthusiasm that most people have is incredible...

I am with teninx waaaayyyy the heck up mthis thread.  I have been a kindle stalker long enough that I know how to use it and the tips and tricks already.  And my poor Hythloday is still in the warehouse!  Well, anyways ... I can't wait ...sadly, I am forced to wait.

I had to google Hythloday (I know I should have paid more attention in school instead of reading a book under the desk.  I needed a Kindle then...it would have been much more discrete.)  Anyway, great name!

It is what it is. I rarely read a manual. I may refer to it at some time, but I rarely touch one out of the box. I do a lot of Googling. Only very rare problems are unanswered. Most problems happen to numerous people, thus the Google searches tend to be fruitful.

Pah, I have never even touched the manual. It's still in it's little envelope thing. When it comes to electronic devices, I usually just push things and see what happens.

Even being one of those "Oprah" people did not stop me from doing my research. Before my K even arrived I already pretty much knew what to do with it. I had already sent sample and free books to it from Amazon's pages. I was reading real material within minutes of turning it on.

As for the Amazon boards, I have not been there since I found this one. Yes, it did get very old, very quickly with repetitiveness. However, I have found in my forum history that it is pretty much the case on all COMPANY forums. It is the nature of the beast, new users of whatever item turn up there first. As they get more comfortable with the item one of two things happen: they either become "resident experts" or they simply disappear to join a real forum such as this one.

Yes, Lucky, that really is the pattern. Company forums are great for getting started but something like this board is so much better for ongoing interaction. I am so glad everyone is here!

Doesn't bother me, I can skip any thread I don't like.

Some people come to the boards for interaction, not just answers.  Like all of us, really.  Nothing wrong with that.

I am with you Kat... I don't need no stinkin manual... Hands on baby... the only way to go! I did however lurk on the Amazon Boards all day yesterday reading the FAQ's so that I would be ready to start pushing buttons on my Kindle whenever it is that I finally get it in my hands!! ;D
