Need suggestions- waterproof case

So I'm leaving for vacation in less than a week, and realize that I'm headed for the beach with nothing to protect my Kindle from the sand, water, and sun. The TrendyDigital waterproof case is perfect, but doesn't start shipping until I've already left for vacation. So, I need some suggestions for something I can use. My specs:
-I have a Kindle 2
-I'd like the page turn buttons to be reasonably accessible/ easy to press through the cover
-The Kindle and cover/case/pouch will likely be out in direct sun for a long period of time, and also exposed to water and sand
-It doesn't have to be pretty
-I'd like it somewhat close to the right size (not super huge)
-I need to get it in a brick and mortar store or through somewhere that offers expedited shipping to have it by Friday
-My regular cover is the Amazon (I know, boring). That's probably not relevant, but figured I'd say so just in case.

I found one that looked good on Amazon (the Kwik Tek 6"x9" Dry Pak), but the review for that product indicates the Kindle 2 doesn't quite fit. Any ideas?

The 6"x9" Dry Pak is too small. Most of us who have them seem to have the 9"x12" instead. Unfortunately, there's no in-between size, and I couldn't find a better fit even with other brands in hunting online. I've used mine with or without the cover on the Kindle inside.

Like any other product, there are tradeoffs. No one has invented a perfect waterproof protective device for the Kindle yet.

On that one, the side buttons are easy enough to manipulate through the cover, however, as with all products in this category so far, the vinyl is thick, but flexible. It's not easy to correctly move the 5-way controller, and very difficult to use the on/off/sleep switch. The vinyl is very clear, and very glossy--easy to read through, but prone to glare in direct sun.

As long as Amazon has it in stock, it can be shipped expedited. I have Amazon Prime, so mine was here in two days. I know some local sporting goods stores carry the same brand or others similar though.

I hadn't even noticed that there was a larger size! That's probably what I'll end up with, then, since you can confirm that it's functional.

It's really too bad the TrendyDigital one isn't available yet; it looks like it's exactly what I'm looking for.

Have you checked it out? I do not think it is the same waterproof case as you mentioned...

That's the one I was looking at. There's a note on the product page saying that it won't ship until April 20th. I suppose I'll drop the company an email and see if that's accurate. If it's available now, problem solved, but it looks like it's "coming soon."

Have you cosidered just putting it in a ziploc bag? I was planning on doing this on my vacation. I was going to bring a box of ziploc bags, and put my naked K2 in a fresh bag each day, when I head out to the beach. That way, I can toss the sandy/greasy platic bag each day. I'm thinking of buying an inexpensive fabric (quilted) type case with a zipper that I can slip the ziploc enclosed kindle into to protect it from the sun when I'm not reading (of course it will always be in my beach bag, under the umbrella, when not in use...).

I just used heavy-duty freezer Ziploc bags on the beach last year. They're not quite as *clear* as the lighter weight ones, but it worked perfectly well for our week at the beach.

If I were going to use it a lot I'd probably spring for one of the fancy bags, but the ziploc trick should work until you can find/get one you really want.

I would take a handy kitchen seal bag if I were you just in case. take double or triple as this can be as an option to use when you waterproof carrier would break down.

I have a DryPak (9x12) and it's true that accessibility to the controller is impossible. If you're not going to be reading directly in the water on a raft, a ZipLoc bag will be fine for sand protection.

I've found that in very warm weather, having the Kindle in a plastic bag of any kind produces some condensation inside the bag. Here are some tips for preventing that:

Put a handful of those silica gel paks (those dry thingies that come packed with certain products) in the bag with the Kindle. If you don't have some lying around the house you can do a search and buy them online.

If bringing the Kindle and the bag from an air conditioned environment into the hot weather, don't seal the Kindle in the bag until they are both acclimated to the outdoor heat. My engineer husband suggested this and it really does cut down on the condensation.

Thanks for everyone's help. I ordered the Dry Pak from Amazon (the 9x12 one), and the silica packs are a great idea- I have tons that come in with a new pair of shoes. I may still get the Trendy Digital one once it's available, since I like that it's closer in size, but the Dry Pak should be just fine for vacation.

One more question- I know some people have had text fading issues in the sun. Did a plastic/vinyl cover make ths worse, better, or no different? I already did the outdoor test and if there is fading, it's not enough to be noticeable to me, so I think my Kindle itself is fine.

I had fading issues and am waiting for a replacement but haven't had the chance to check it out inside a plastic bag. I would think it would have no effect, though. The fading issue has to do with the bright light, not the temperature it seems. I tested my fading on a 65 degree sunny day and on an 85 degree sunny day. It was the same at both temperatures.
