Hello Authors!

Wanted to let you know about a new Premium Interview that is now available at 1st Author Interviews. There's a small charge but you get more exposure. It's recommended for those of you who already have a few places online, such as a website, blog, Face Book or Twitter page. We format it so it's even more search engine-friendly and your book cover will show up right away on our Facebook page.

You can now answer up to 10 questions about your book!

You can include a longer excerpt.

Your interview will be posted within 3 business days.

Right now our turnaround time for free interviews is about 2 weeks.

So, here's the link if you want to check it out! http://www.1stauthorinterviews.com/p/premium-interviews.html

How much traffic does the site receive?
What type of ROI have previous authors received from the service?
Why should I pay you to interview me?
What the heck is a "premium" interview anyway? Sounds cheesy and fake to me.
I don't believe in paying for interviews. Ever.
The example of a Premium Interview doesn't inspire a lot of confidence either.

Thumbs down.
I liked the site's free interviews.

Linking $6.95 to the interview isn't the best idea. Feels like paying to be interviewed.

Opening up the ability to sponsor the site, for a similar price, is a more acceptable approach. But keep the interviews free. :)
Being approached for an interview gives the idea that the interviewer is interested in you and your work.

Charging a fee for an interview gives the idea that the interviewer is only interested in money.

I'm curious as to how they're generating traffic to their site. It's only been around since May. Likely the traffic is from the authors themselves sending their followers there.
Hello Authors!

Thank you for your feedback.

We are hoping to get our own website and not rely on Blogger. Then we can discontinue the paid interviews and go with a few nice banners.

Sorry, but I don't pay for interviews. It would be more of a promotional feature in that case, but then it would have to really have major exposure, longevity, etc and go beyond an interview in order to make it worth the while.

If the purpose of your first offer to post interviews was merely to generate content in order to switch over to a "fee based" service, then I would request that you remove the interview posted June 5th. I will not be associated with something like this.

Why do you need to get off Blogger to run banner ads? Blogger supports banners, and even better, supports Google ads. If you build up your site popularity with quality, free interviews and reviews, and start getting decent traffic, those ads will generate revenue. There's never any need to charge for an author interview... and as an author, there's absolutely no incentive to pay, unless there's some major marketing campaign going on and that particular interview gains you boatloads of exposure. Even then, it's iffy. There are dozens of sites, many quite popular with heavy traffic, that are happy to do interviews with authors.
