Hi and welcome to the group! I was worried about it too as I am going to Europe in 2 weeks. We had a discussion about this the other day actually and while it has been known to happen, it is a very rare occurrence. I am comparing it to being struck by lightning. We have a lot of travelers on this board who have been through hundreds of the machines with the Kindle and have no issues.

Mine either but it is saving on space. I have a 7 foot tall bookshelf that is packed to the brim...and we're not even talking about the over flow! He asked me if it would stop me from buying hard copies and I told him yes unless it was something that I had to have as a physical copy :)
When Chris and I moved last year I had about 30-40 totes of books (and that was AFTER I gave a bunch to the local care home) and while we were hauling them in - he looked at me and said "Are you kidding me? You really NEED all these??"
