Looks like there is a planned protest of the change in policy on Text To Speech in NYC on April 7: http://jebswebs.net/blog/2009/03/nfb-protest-authors-guild/
(sorry if this was already posted)

As a visually impaired person who lives somewhat close to NYC, I'm tempted to go... but I kind of feel like if I'm going to protest something it should be because some one is getting killed\beaten\unjustly imprisoned, or something of that nature.

I'm glad you have perspective, true, nobody is being beaten, killed, etc.

But, making a big fuss about things seems to be the best way to draw attention to the issue and until you get peoples attention it is difficult to drive change.  Even though a protest seems extreme, it's for a good cause.
