Hi my husband and I are starting a new project and want to settle on a domain name today.  The website will be for writers in the "Christian Niche"
I want the words : Christian writer or writing in the domain name itself, (I assume this helps with SEO) it's the third word we're having trouble with.

Our options at this point are:
christianwritersstudio.com
christianwriterstudio.com
christianwritingstudio.com
or my husband likes:
mercywriters.com

Any thoughts before we buy the domain?  I'm afraid with the first two that people will type them incorrectly.

Sometimes when you double up letters they can get typoed, yes.

As a result I would generally go with the third option.

I also like your husband's idea well enough.

In the end, you should choose something based on what you like, not what you think a search engine will like. The vast majority of traffic anyone gets is based on the content of their pages and the word of mouth they can generate. The domain name is small stuff.

KM:  I definitely would make sure Christian was in the URL as it does help with SEO.  And I agree with your point, the first two may end up with people making some spelling mistakes. However, you could buy both domains and have them point to each other so you are covered.  Another could be christianwritersgroup or christianwritersforum.

I agree. IMHO branding is much more important that choosing a domain for keywords these days. The SE's are plenty smart enough to pick up the topic from the other words on your page. Any bonus you might get for having a match in the domain name is probably short lived.
