I did hear about the nekkid Kindle, but mine are covered and always have been! I even got rid of that pesky Amazon label on my K2 cover (used my P-touch and created a "metal" label with my name. Now it looks like an semi-expensive day planner! LOL! I was in the Mortgage Business (back room...not a big-bad broker) so recently found my self unemployed and have to watch all my pennies these days. Believe me...I'd be in there buying with the rest of you, but the future, as of now, is uncertain, so I spend my $$$ on books instead.
Sorry to hear about the unemployment situation. Is there a silver lining to this cloud? Are you getting to read more on your Kindle?

The silver lining is I maybe starting a business with a bestfriend/ex-coworker...exciting and scary at the same time.  Also, going to school for Plan B/Medical Information Tech. So, yes...I'm "always looking up" even though there is alot on my plate and the future is uncertain!

My daughter ended up with my KK, so together we save for GC at Coinstar...and she loves that!
And NOTHING stops me from reading on my Kindle!! :)

That nekkid, shivering Kindle... :D :D

Did you hear about the nekkid kindle I saw on the plane the other day? No skin, no cover. I wanted to chide the owner for taking his kindle out in public like that. Does he have no shame? ;D
They obviously don't know about KindleBoards!

Kindle Convert - Good luck to you! It sounds like an unfortunate circumstance may have opened other doors for you. Whether you decide on Plan A or Plan B, it sounds like you are in for some exciting times. Congratulations.

Thanks, Kim.  It's all very exciting and scary at the same time.  When you've been in the same profession for almost 25 years it's hard to ditch it all.  However, if you see ANY news whatsoever, you know that being in the Banking/Mortgage business is not a good place to be right now...especially in SW Florida!  It's starting to get better in this market, but it's going to take time.  :)

Good luck Kindle Konvert - just going to the Good Morning Thread will make you smile at the day.  And so many many free books out there - I'll never get caught up.

Anju thanks!  No worries!  We are doing fine!  I know there are people out there in alot worse shape than I am with the economy the way it is!  Hence, why I haven't mentioned it sooner...back on topic...I know it was all in good fun, but I certainly didn't want our newcomer feeling that her Kindle had to be dressed and named before she could play on the playground, so to speak! ;)

Welcome to the Boards. Oh what an open ended question to ask here.
The first thing you have to do is check the status of delivery incessantly. Then stalk the UPS guy. Once you get the box, you open it, play with it a bit, then log back onto the Boards and tell us how absolutely fabulous it is. Then you skin it, cover it, and bag it. And of course, you have to take pictures of it in all its new glory and post those. Then you hack the K2 and download a ton of screensavers. OMG, I forgot about a name. You have to name it. If you can't think of one, ask here. Someone will be able to supply an appropriate name once you've determined whether its male or female.
Next, you log onto the Boards every morning, tell us the temperature of where you live and what you plan to do for the day. Share a good recipe that will add five pounds and make us drool. Post pictures of your kitchen appliances, and tell us all of your funny stories. Inform us of every good book that you read, and bad book too for that matter. Join a book klub. Increase your post count. And last but not least, find all the eggs before next weekend.
Hope I haven't overwhelmed you.
Welcome, and get busy.

I had to revisit this to see whether there was anything left on the ToDo list. Let's see... Waiting for two BB bags to take pics. Screensavers, ok, soon, but not today, too busy. A name... well, maybe, not sure if she really meant it. Recipes, got it, that's easy. Guess that's next. Of course it might be easier to browse my favorite cookbooks if I hadn't just decided I needed to drop a few pounds for summer. Being a new Kindleowner is such hard work.

Yes, but with a lot of dedication, I know you can do it! And we are all here to help you! Your commitment is huge but with the help of all these enabler, it's not insurmountable.

(and she wasn't kidding about the name)

Oh, I meant whether my *Kindle* was kidding about her name. I had just about picked one for her and was going to sleep on it to make sure, but the next day she seemed to want a different one. So I was holding off, refusing to acknowledge it, and hoping she'd settle for the one I picked.

What I chose made sense to me. From Hindu mythology, Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, and the arts. Apparently at festivals honoring her they put books on altars. It seemed appropriate. And she does have a music-themed skin. And she could be Sara for short, which was also my great-grandmother's name, so that was kind of nice.

But then she decided she wanted to be Kali, the "Devourer of Time"... I'm not sure I really want to accept that.

Kali, the Devourer of Time? She wants to be named after KIndleBoards? ;) I hope the chosen name is Saraswati, kinda like that.
