Chapter 11 "Conversations with a Lawyer"

1. What are your impressions of Colum? Dougal? Ned Gowan?

I dont know about Colum or Dougal. I still havent even figured out if they are the good guys or not. Gowan is a lawyer. Enough said.

2. How do you feel about how Dougal uses Jamie for the Stuart cause?

I wished Jaime would have punched Dougal out instead of the other guy.

I must be having a bad day.  :)

Chapter 12 "The Garrison Commander"

3. What is your perception of Claire and Jamie's changing relationship? (He sleeps outside her door for protection...)

It seems like he is becoming more and more protective of her. She seems like she is lost whenever he is not around or at least she feels alot safer when he is.

4. How has Claire changed between her first and second encounter with Black Jack Randall (at Fort William)?

I think its the same Claire but when she first met him she didnt know what was going on or when or where she was. Now she is just being herself around him. To bad it got her punched in the stomach.

5. How did you feel when first learning Claire and Jamie were to be married?

I thought it was funny. I knew it would have to happen sometime but this was great.

6. What is the significance of the Pictish cross being mentioned again?

You got me on this one. I have no idea what a Pictish cross is.

7. How did the description of Jamie's flogging affect you?

It was gross. Nobody should have to go through that except maybe Randall. It reminded me of that religious movie Mel Gibson made that i cant remember the name of right now.

Here's a link. If you enlarge the top picture, you can see the stylized cross carved into the stone. This is just one example.

So thats what it is. Has the book explained what it means yet? I cant remember if it has.

Chapter 14 "A Marriage Takes Place"

8. What was the best aspect of Claire and Jamie's wedding? The most romantic? The most surprising?

"That bad, was it?" - Jamie to Claire after their wedding.

The best thing was that they managed to get through it without much of a problem. I guess the most romantic part was the gaelic lines they spoke even though they had to get cut to do it and Claire had no idea what was being said. To me the most surprising part was that the bad guy didnt show up. I kept expecting him to come in and ruin the whole thing.

I too am thinking jamie is not a ghost but a time traveler too.

Even if there was a Claire in Frank's history, what would make him think time travel vs an ancestor with same name?
I dont know if Jaime was a time traveller before Claire showed up but wasnt that him that Frank ran into when he came home that one night and was standing outside?

Chapter 15 "Revelations of the Bridal Chamber"

9. In what ways were both Jamie and Claire vulnerable on their wedding night?

Jaime was because he was a virgin and didnt exactly know what to do. Claire was because she was thinking of her husband and she said that she hadnt been with any man but him for eight years and now its only been six weeks and shes already cheating on him.

10. How do you feel about the issue of honesty (and Claire's hesitancy)?

Jamie is hiding things and i dont know why after all they are married now. Claire cant tell him the whole truth cause she'd look like a nut.
