Passing on Two Tips

Most of you will probably know this stuff, but:

1. booklaunch.io is kind of fun. The best part is that you just enter in the Amazon link, and it will set up a landing page for you. You just have to fill in some details. For example, my page (still playing around with it): http://booklaunch.io/almacy/contactus

2. You can quickly set up a link at booklinker.net, that will work like this: ViewBook.at/cu or ViewBook.at/MyBook. It's a nice way of making a semi-readable link, but better, it takes the clicker to the amazon site appropriate for his/her country. Also, it tracks clicks.

Holy Carp.
That's interesting.
Thanks.
Surely you mean Holy Haddock or Holy Herring?

ps: I'd settle for a nice kipper, though.
Interesting! I normally use bit.ly for my short links, but I'll check these services out. Thanks for sharing.
As for tip number 2:

SmartURL is a much better option. They have a capability where when you add an Amazon link, they will automatically add all the other country specific Amazon links.

The Austrian site (the one ending in .at) appends their affiliate code. SmartURL will let you use your own.
Very interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing :)

I don't have affiliate links, so I can see why that would be a better option if I did. Maybe there is more to smart Url, I haven't used it but will go check it out. The initial look was a bit intimidating. The beauty of booklinker is it does all the setting up for you, you just give it one amazon link and it redirects to all the countries, and then shows how many clicks and from what country-- all for free.

That just means that THEY will be making affiliate income that could be yours. It's a bit sneaky.
Thanks for sharing, great tips!
Thank you SO MUCH for this! I've been tinkering with one of my own, and it's been driving me BATTY. This looks like a much simpler process!

No, you can use your own. When you register at BookLinker, you have a chance to put in your affiliate link code. So, for example, if you try out this: ViewBook.at/cu, you'll see that when you arrive at Amazon, the link will include my affiliate code. It is true that they make some money somehow from Amazon.

One problem is that apparently there's no way to modify a link once you enter it. So, for example, I first tried things out before my latest book came out. For experimenting, I set ViewBook.at/ContactUs to go to another of my books. But now I can't change or delete it. I sent a support email and was told that they would fix it for me. Hasn't happened yet.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, that's exactly what ViewBook.at does.

Spotted d***?
Here's something I haven't figured out on Twiangulate: I would like to put in a user name and then go through and follow his/her followers and follow many of them. However, it forces me to enter two user names. I know I can do that in Twitter, but the layout of the list of followers in Twitter doesn't work well for fast selection.
I think a page for each individual book might make sense for unconnected nonfiction, but for fiction, my feedback from readers has been they like my page I made where they click the platform they buy books on and go see the rest of what I have for sale. That's the landing page I link to in all of my books, no matter where they are. So any reader gets to the end, they are invited right to the Rose Room and from there can click on THEIR platform of choice and that takes them to my author page on that platform. Again, if you are Amazon exclusive, you don't have to worry about that and single landing pages per book might work for you.

Hey there - just want to clear some stuff up. My name is Cole and I help run BookLinker.

1. You can use your own affiliate parameters for all of the different countries.
2. We automatically globalize every link that you give us, the only thing you need to do is paste in your original (base country) Amazon URL.
3. The service is completely free.
4. We only make money by affiliating links when you choose not to. If you add your own affiliate parameters, you earn 100% of your clicks, and the corresponding commissions. If you decide not to add your own affiliate parameters, we will affiliate those clicks instead. It helps us keep the lights on at HQ for offering the service for free.
5. If you need to edit or change a link that you've created, just shoot an email to [email protected] and we'll help you out. Unfortunately we haven't had the development resources to build in the ability to edit or delete a link yet, but we plan on spending some in the near future to completely revamp the links page (we know it's hard to navigate).

I hope that helps, but please feel free to email the above address if you have any other questions or concerns. And thank you very much for trying us out. :)
