Planning a blog tour?

613 Views 12 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Kelvin
Hiya everyone,

So I released my new book recently on Amazon, which is my profile picture and on my signature. Anyways, I'm looking to do a blog tour but don't really know where to start. Should I start looking for interested bloggers/reviewers etc. or should I wait and use the support "Teen Book Scene" gives?

So if you're interested in participating in the blog tour, feel free to leave a comment or pm me here on kindleboards. I'm open to interviews/guest post etc.

Thanks
Kelvin

I'm fairly new this business too... Sadly, I don't really know what a blog tour is either, so I'm really looking forward to what others response are.
I'm in the middle of my first blog tour...

It's a lot of work but nice to meet so many people.  I set mine up with 7 stops (just to test the waters).  I'm doing different things on each stop - interviews, guest blog spots, etc... the biggest thing is that I"m bringing music with me - playing "live concerts" at each stop which are recorded for that sites stop.

I worked with a new artist who made me an awesome poster for the tour and am offering a grand prize at the end of the tour for those who leave comments... (it's all here at www.JimOnTour.info)

I just used my network of writers to find those who fit my book's style, etc. and had the time to have me there.  I'm also open to having people on my site so if you're thinking about a tour, shoot me a message, we'll work something out!

Thanks Jim. I'll certainly be in touch
I'm doing a June blog tour beginning this Monday using Pump Up Your Book (www.pumpupyourbook.com) to organize the tour. I'll be happy to report back. So far, all the prep has been great. Their CEO, Dorothy Thompson, has been terrific to work with.

If you want to see a sample tour page and itinerary, you can visit mine here: http://www.pumpupyourbook.com/2011/05/05/ladies-and-gentlemen-the-redeemers-virtual-book-tour-june-2011/

Hope this helps.
I'm hosting my first author on my blog on the 17th. I'm actually part of a group that actively host writers/bloggers.

I'd love to have a few more writers on my blog as long as your book falls into one of these categories fantasy/comedy/sci-fi (easy sci-fi--not that hard technical stuff)/YA/And not boring and sucky ^_^.

I mostly do interviews but you can be a guest blogger as well or do a giveaway. Tell me which you prefer.

Hi Kelvin,

If you would like to do an interview on my blog -- http://troubledownsouth.wordpress.com/, I would love to have you. PM me and we can discuss the details.

I'm doing a blog tour right now for my YA science fiction book.  I'm doing it pretty informally, which means it might take me a while to write up all the posts, but I'm definitely looking for places where I can come on as a guest!

I don't think there's any set of rules for how to do a blog tour.  Just contact other bloggers and ask if they'd be willing to host.
I haven't done a blog tour yet. I have been booking dates to appear on blogs and it does help sales. My problem is that my own blog is so popular because of some of the features we host. Last month we had 20,000 hits and 980 votes on the book of the month, which was amazing for the authors that took part. So, because of that I have to do guest blog apperances here and there when I can, but even that helps.

Thanks Alex, for the tip
