Pre-order on KDP...Last day you can submit new book file?

I am curious if anyone has a precise answer to this. If you set something for preorder, I know there is a date by which you must submit the final file. But, then, at some point after that, I believe you can no longer submit any file as the book prepares to launch. So far it seems that the preorder final file must be uploaded 10 days before the release date. But how much longer after that can you resubmit the final file with an adjustments? I have one book that's releasing on June 11th, and it's already locked for any changes. Anyone know this?

Four days I was told, submit it asap! But next time don't play it so close, a lot of people here have gotten their pre-order privileges stripped.
They lock you out with 3 days to go.
Sorry to hijack.

Wait, so you can resubmit the final file? I submitted my final files yesterday (due date is this coming Friday), and then I saw a typo in the back matter. Argh.
Yes, they need final file ten days before publication, but you can re-upload with minor tweaks between then and three days before the file is locked. Cutting it fine though, and no guarantee the changes will refresh before you're locked out, so do ensure your 'final' file is as good as it can be!

This ^^. Remember though that it is due at 12am.
I'm actually not cutting it close, I was just curious. I already had the file in that I needed, but I wanted a reference for future projects. Thanks for the clear responses all!
The final file is due ten days before the release date, but you can still make changes up until three days before the release. At that point, Amazon begins the lockout period and nothing can be changed. I recently updated my file on the firth day before release, but it was over the weekend and even though the Bookshelf said the book was Live, the changes didn't show. I emailed Amazon and they reminded me about the three day lockout and said they couldn't force an update of the new cover, I'd have to wait until it released and make changes then. I was a little confused since I'd updated before the three days hit, but it took a full day for customer service to get to me email, putting me in the three day lockout. In the end, my changes went through and everything worked out, but I was a little tense for a day or so :)

I've heard from multiple authors that just because you *can* upload a revised final file after the 10 day deadline, you're not supposed to and though the changes may go through, you still get banned from pre-order for breaking the rules. It seems this doesn't happen to everyone though (case in point, mollemcgregor) but were it me, I would check directly with Amazon before playing with fire.

This is not true, and I don't know where it came from. I confirmed with KDP Support the first time someone posted this. You are allowed to change your Final manuscript up until the lock you out with 3 days to go.

This about this for a minute. Amazon is one of the largest software developers in the world. If they meant you could not change your manuscript after the 10 day final requirement, they would simply lock you out inside the 10 day window, not set a trap and catch you manually...

Lunacy.

They deal with thousands of preorders, they are not going to track them manually.

This makes a lot of sense, and it's good to know that KDP confirmed it's OK. Thanks! :)

It varies. Some people get away with submitting changes to the manuscript file after the ten days, and other people get banned for that.
